Editing:
RES eXtendable
Wad Editor can view textures (rotated 90
degrees), sounds and text lumps from the RES
files.
It is not possible to make new RES files or
edit them. Yet.
MAP
Doom Builder can
work, but have fun guessing the textures and
things.
There is bare, incomplete and possibly broken
preliminary support for Amulets & Armor in
Oblige
4.x (Random level generator).
Random,
possibly speculative
stuff below this line (Kept out of historical
interest)
Trivia: Fun possibly
unverified facts: DeeP was used as the map editor -
there's DeeP headers in the .map files (which
are actually small PWADs)
Yamaha OPL2/3 can't play back the entire
polyphony of some songs causing them to sound
very funny and empty.
Although "death-match play" is in the feature
list, there is no DM rules with a scoreboard
and monster removal.
BUG: v1.0 had character saving before level
ended, so if you died and lost your items,
then quit, congratulations : you lost your
items! There is also a potential exploit for
grabbing stuff then selling them without
completing the level (such as the map ring in
the first level of the v1.0 demo, you can
easily rack up your way to 25p to buy the
Vindicator in just a few minutes)
You can still move around with your mouse when
you're dead (as a running, jumping corpse that
can't open doors)
Stuff that was cut from the game (totally
unverified and theoried):
Housing system
Elk (Food spawned out when dead. Eat that,
PETA)
Wolf Banshee (Used - spawns during
night time on a certain map)
Innocent civilians (crashes now)
Shields that can be equipped
Amulets being purchasable from the bank (now
just only rings)
Lots of amulets & rings that never made it
into the final levels
Hidden
dance/rock
music meant as an easter egg, but never
implemented
Weird login screen MIDI song, only exists in
demo v1.0.
Stuff
lost forever:
Hard copies of game (no one has one as far as
I know and no store sells it legitimately)
Hope for a legal release......?
