Relax. 1.) QME, and the 3DS plugin and a bunch of other companies use the MD2 format, and have done so for a considerable period of time. There has been plenty of time for ID to clamp down on the MD2 format, and they haven't. The MD2 format is no longer state of the art, and has hardly any intrinsic value, and as I recall, they have in the past released all their source code after the lifetime of their games is near the end anyway. 2.) We did not use one line of their source code. If we get a threatening note from ID, then we simply make a translator program to move the things to a custom format. It would be a bit of an annoyance, but nothing more. 3.) Your final game has no MD2 files in it. The information gets gleaned from the MD2 file in the Make Final process, and the whole object is stored in a pure binary form in the .BIN files which make up your game level. You would not be distributing any MD2 files in your final game. 4.) If this is true that a customer did really call up ID and try to stir up trouble, it still means nothing. Try calling up our 800 number and ask if it is OK to use the .VGA format. Depending on which phone-lady answers the phone you will probably get 8 different answers. Relax.
