Galactix is an overhead space shooter likened to Raiden and other arcade games. You fly a ship through asteroid fields, destroying enemies and asteroids for points while dodging bullets.

You have 3 lives and a high score to live up to. When you lose all lives, the game ends and your score is compared to the high score. If you defeat the level, the number of lives you have will give you bonus points.

Weapons are advanced by weapon upgrades that will increase the number of bullets you fire and the types of attacks your ship carries. You can also pick up homing missile upgrades, which will level up independently of your weapons.

There are 3 types of ships. The first fires a spread of bullets that deal even damage in a wide range attack, and even shoots enemies at its sides. The second ship deals with straightforward attacks, which will do greater damage but only hit enemies directly in front of the ship. The third ship is more risky, using a relatively weak attack, but relying on a very powerful missile arsenal.

The different ships have different weapons, and thus different weapon upgrades. When you max out the upgrades, the power of your weapons will be increased with each upgrade item.
