These mods are being worked on or are planned. They are ranked from 1-10 on how likely they will be finished. Anything above 7 is pretty likely. I won't get all or even most of these done - this is just a list of what I can choose from.

A very entertaining overhead mech battle. You run around as a mech shooting at other mechs with the various weapons you find. I've gotten all kinds of good comments regarding how good the weapons, controls, and gameplay are. It's almost completely done. The only major setback is trying to teach the frikbots how to fight, because that's changed a lot for them. But luckily it also supports human players. One more mod ready for release on QExpo.
Unfortunately, this mod doesn't do well in DarkPlaces (you can't turn or anything). So far the best engine I've found to run it in is regular quake. ;)

Imagine a Capture The Flag game where team mates can gain superpowers by carrying their flag. In Hero CTF, carrying your own flag will give you powers such as Double Damage, Double Resitance, Regeneration, etc, and the effect can even be radiating (meaning, allies around you are also powered up). Carrying your flag can assist you in defending your base against attack, and even attempting to break the enemy's defense (though doing so puts you at risk of bringing your flag right into the enemy's hands).
In addition to empowering its teammates, the flag can curse enemy players who carry it by giving them Half Resistance (so they die easier), etc.
Flags may have minor curses on their teammates in addition to the powers, such as combining Degeneration with Double Damage and Double Resistance.
Vagrant Story Quake

Anyone who's played Vagrant Story on playstation will likely get a kick out of this one. It's progressing extremely well, and will probably finish pretty soon. It's different from the original, however, since quake focuses on guns and ammo rather than swords and axes. I think I've got an interesting take on this.
I'm worried about the progress of this mod, as I can't seem to get some things to unpause correctly.

Bomberman is a game I remember playing on the N64, and it's very entertaining. Doing this in quake would not be all that hard; in fact, it would be quite fast. This mod isn't started just yet.

Ever gone to the arcade and played the games where you aim with the gun and shoot at the screen? Games like Jurassic Park, Time Crisis, etc? Yup, it's quite possible. Aiming with the mouse ought to work quite well. Plus it wouldn't be too hard to script the action in a map.
Return Fire Quake

I suppose you could call this a 2-dimentional overhead airquake. Return fire basically involves driving tanks, armored cars, and helicopters around and demolishing your enemy's base. Your goal is to discover which building has their Flag in it, which you want to capture. The added twist is, the only way to carry a flag is with the jeep, the weakest but fastest vehicle. The enemy, in the mean time, can grab his own flag and relocate it, and is also searching for your flag. You only have a limited number of each vehicle, so when all those get destroyed, it's game over. If you lose all your jeeps, you can't capture, but you can still stop your enemy from capturing either. The original Return Fire was a real blast. Even though this is sort of a total conversion, it'll be a real simple one once I'm started (and I already partially am).
Now that Battle Mech's control system is complete, building Return Fire off of it will be a total cinch!
Hurried Ascent

Hurried Descent by Akuma (you can find it on his site) was an interesting mod where you have to hurry to get to the bottom of the level as fast as you can, without falling because falling will kill you. The ceiling is coming down on you just to add incentive. Hurried Ascent will be just the opposite: you have to go up as fast as you can, while being pursued by rising lava, slime or water filled with rottfish. Monsters will also be pursuing you, all focused on keeping you from reaching the top, and will have abilities like climbing walls, special attacks, etc. You'll find various weapons along the way to help you fight monsters, destroy obstacles and even do rocket jumping etc.
Metal Slug Quake

Metal Slug is a very cool 2D side-scrolling game. It's got a great feel to it and the speed of the game is very fitting to my taste. Doing this in Quake1 will take some effort, but my success with Galactix has given me a fitful confidence boost, since most of what I'll need to do here I've already succeeded at once or twice. I'm planning to have 4 playable characters: Quakeguy, Grunt, Enforcer, and Ogre.

Final Fantasy Tactics for Quake. Because of the deapth of the needed changes and the fact that everything I do in this mod is difficult, it's not running super-smooth right now. It is not likely that this mod will be finished, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Quake Starcraft. It's not very likely that I'll do this mod, but it would be quite entertaining. If I did make it, it would be pretty simple, with 2 races (Humans vs Demons) and a few buildings and upgrades. Possible units would include workers, basic attackers, fliers, heavy attackers, etc. The biggest impediment is the limited numbers of enemies quake will put up with before raising a big stink... a 30 unit limit per player wouldn't be much fun. Still, it's a possibility this would get done, depending on how many of the others I finish and how confident I am afterwords.
Super Smash Quake

This is at least somewhat feasible. Super Smash Bros has been a hit on both the gamecube and the N64 (where it originated). It's a side-view 2D battleground with an all-star Nintendo cast (Yoshi, Mario, Kirby, Pikachu, and Link are just some of the characters). You basically attack opponents to raise their Damage% and try to knock them off the level. The higher their damage, the farther they fly. It's an absolute blast, and is surprisingly possible in Quake. It'd take some work though, so it's low on my list.
